About Immigration Concepts

Ron Cushing has been the director of the UC International Services at the University of Cincinnati for 30 years. He is responsible for serving the needs of approximately 7,000 nonimmigrant students, faculty, and researchers in the F, J, H-1B, TN and O statuses. When he took over the office he was the only professional responsible for the immigration needs of this population. Armed with only a copy of the regulations and accruing experience, Ron became an authority on federal regulations and procedures. It wasn’t long before he was sought out by other international educators for advice and mentoring. To date, Ron has trained over 1,000 individuals from hundreds of different institutions across the United States and in multiple countries.

In it's 26th year, Immigration Concepts evolved out of years of receiving requests for assistance from colleagues, students and scholars, private corporations and even immigration lawyers. Ron has served as a mentor to hundreds of colleagues and has made dozens of presentations at professional conferences, including regional and national NAFSA, the American International Recruitment Council (AIRC), the American Association of Collegiate Registrars, and other organizations. He has served as the Student Scholar Regulatory Representative (SSRR) for NAFSA Region VI (1997-1999). Ron has been honored by the University of Cincinnati for “outstanding contributions that promote the ideals of a just and caring community”.
