Advising Students in Other Immigration Statuses

The Advising Students in Other Immigration Statuses eLearning course will provide information on how to process and advise students who do not hold F-1 or M-1 status and who do not want or do not qualify for F-1 or M-1 status.  Topics to be covered include:

• Defining who should be classified as an international student
• Most common other statuses encountered by student advisors
• Handling undocumented students
• Understanding Deferred Action, Temporary Protected Status and other immigration situations
• How other statuses impact the educational objective of the student
• Pros and cons of keeping the current status verses changing status to F-1 or M-1
